My Story - Chapter 6 - Personal Growth

As I sit here writing this Blog Post I realise it is 10 years to the exact day we closed the last business and I would face bankruptcy.

I was originally going to write about creating a "National Brand" however, I would like to share my thoughts on our own "personal growth".

So much has happened to me in the last 10 years. It has been a real roller coaster of emotions.

  • I've made lots of mistakes.
  • I've won numerous business awards.
  • I've had Malignant Melanoma twice.
  • I re married my ex husband!
  • Ive walked a 26 mile Mighty Hike for Macmillan.
  • I've built and sold 5 houses.
  • I've grown a National Brand.

Not necessarily in that order!

Above all else I have learned about myself.

I have learned that my debilitating panic attacks and anxiety were all a way of my body telling me that I was not living the life "I" wanted. It was also telling me that I hadn't addressed my fears. I was not taking control, I was being controlled. To be truly free I had to dig deep and acknowledge and face all of the things that caused me to feel hurt, dissatisfaction, fear, regret and anger. Some of these may have been outside influences and some may have been self inflicted. I had to rid myself of this negativity to truly grow as my own person and live my very best life.

"If you always do what you’ve always done, you will always get what you’ve always got” and you cannot continually blame others.

I would not kid you that this process is easy or will it necessarily be kind in the answers you find, but I found that to move forward you have to be very brave and let go of the emotions, situations and sometimes people who are holding you back.

My life is no way perfect, I am no where near perfect. I do my very best as a mum, wife and business leader, but I know I will continue to make mistakes, but I now understand that this is ok and I will learn from them and from this I will continue to grow.

Next... Creating a National Brand!
